Hanseo University announced on June 4 that it has signed a business agreement with DeTect and Bird Rex for the development of the aviation safety field, respectively.
The signing ceremony, which was held in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the main building of Taean Campus, was attended by President Ham Ki-sun of Hanseo University, Vice-Chancellor Kim Yeon-myung of Aviation, President of Haem-hyun, President of Graduate School, Gary Andrews CEO of DeTect, President Seo Dong-hwi, Director of the Korean branch, Hwang Sang-mo of Bird Rex, and Managing Director of Kim Il-joong.
DeTect is a U.S. company that is a leader in the development of advanced remote sensing technology that uses radar to detect aircraft, drones, drones, birds, etc. More than 800 radar systems have been installed worldwide since 2003. It established a Korean corporation in October 2023 and is pursuing business expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. As a family company of Hanseo University, Budrex is a company specializing in the development of bird collision prevention systems in the field of aviation safety and is currently providing world-class service in cooperation with DeTect in the United States.
The main contents of the business agreement with DeTect signed on this day are:
- Testing and evaluating the aircraft bird strike avoidance radar and drone detection radar on the runway of Hanseo University’s Taean airfield
- Analyzing the risk of bird collision at the Taean airfield for aircraft around the runway and testing it with a drone detection device
- For the purpose of testing and data collection and demonstration purposes, the system is provided free of charge to Hanseo University for a fixed period.
We have signed a business agreement with Bird Rex to test and evaluate the bird collision prevention system with DeTect in the United States at the Taean Airfield of Hanseo University Sharing information and technology related to the aviation safety field.
[대학저널 이선용 기자] 한서대학교는 6월 4일 DeTect 및 버드렉스와 항공 안전 분야 발전을 위한 업무협약을 각각 체결했다고 밝혔다.
태안캠퍼스 본관 2층 대회의실에서 이루어진 이날 협약식에는 한서대 함기선 총장과 김연명 항공부총장, 함정현 대학원장, DeTect사의 게리 앤드류스 회장과 서동휘 한국지사장, 버드렉스사의 황상모 대표와 김일중 전무 등이 참여했다.
DeTect사는 미국기업으로 레이더를 활용하여 항공기, 무인항공기, 드론, 조류 등을 탐지하는 첨단 원격 감지 기술 개발 분야의 선두주자이다. 2003년부터 전 세계적으로 800개 이상의 레이더 시스템을 설치했다. 2023년 10월에 한국 법인을 설립하여, 아시아 태평양 지역의 사업 확장을 추진하고 있다. 버드렉스사는 한서대 가족기업으로 항공 안전 분야 중 조류충돌 예방 시스템 개발 전문회사로서 현재 미국 Detect사와 손잡고 세계 최고 수준의 서비스를 제공하고 있다.
이날 체결된 DeTect사와 업무협약의 주요 내용은 ▲항공기 조류충돌(Birdstrike) 회피 레이더 및 드론 탐지 레이더를 한서대학교 태안 비행장 활주로에서 테스트하고 평가 ▲활주로 공역 주변의 항공기를 대상으로 태안 비행장의 조류 충돌 위험을 분석하고 드론 탐지 장치로 테스트 ▲테스트와 데이터 수집 및 시연 목적으로 시스템을 정해진 기간 동안 한서대학교에 무료 제공 등이다.
버드렉스사와는 ▲조류충돌 예방 시스템을 미국 DeTect사와 함께 한서대 태안비행장에서 테스트하고 평가 ▲항공 안전 분야 관련 정보 및 기술 공유 등을 내용으로 하는 업무협약을 맺었다.
