Current job opportunities:

Radar Systems Engineers: Entry-level and experienced radar design and development engineers to research, design, develop, and test electronic and mechanical components and control systems for radar systems and other products for military and commercial aviation, environmental, homeland security and force protection clients. Position will have significant opportunity for advancement and upward career mobility to include management responsibility. Candidate must be able to work in a self-directed, entrepreneurial environment. Requires minimum B.S. degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, P.E. preferred. Openings available in Longmont, Colorado and Panama City, Florida USA.

Programmers and Senior Programmers: Open requirement for positions for preparing specifications and user requirements and in encoding, testing, debugging, updating, and documenting proprietary software and programs for radar systems, data analysis and other company products and projects working under the direction of the company's Chief Technology Officer. Expertise and knowledge of LabView, Visual Basic, C++, web applications and other programming languages desired. Programmer level requires three years minimum experience and B.S. degree in computer science; Senior level positions require 5-10 years experience and advanced degrees or commensurate experience. Openings available in Longmont, Colorado and Panama City, Florida USA. Radar Ornithologists and Senior Radar Ornithologists:

Entry and Senior Level Radar Ornithologists: Positions supporting bird detection radar system set-up, operation, groundtruthing, measurement and analysis of the spatial distribution of birds and bats for aviation, wind farm, landfill and related projects. Duties and responsibilities will include field data collection, radar system operation and maintenance, processing and analysis using standard and custom software packages (including Arc 9, Matlab, MS Access, SQL and MS Excel). Conduct statistical analysis of bird distributions in time and space, compile draft technical reports for customers, provide processed data and graphical display output, and develop new data processing routines as needed for new projects. Requires minimum B.S. in avian biology, biology or related field and 3+ years of experience in avian survey. Radar operation experience and strong database skills a plus.

September 30, 2016 - US Air Force Awards DeTect AHAS-BAM contract - The USAF today awarded DeTect a five year, $4.5 million contract to operate, develop and manage the Air Force's US national birdstrike risk advisory and alerting system - Avian Hazard Advisory System (AHAS) and the USAF Bird Avoidance Model (BAM). The contract also includes maintenance and acquisition of Bird Detection Radar (BDR) systems.

September 9, 2016 - News Release: 'Sully' Miracle on the Hudson Bird Strike - With the release today of the movie 'Sully' recounting the 2009 'Miracle on the Hudson' bird-aircraft strike that caused the crash of US Airways flight 1549, bird related risk to commercial aircraft is back in the news. Eight years later no US airport uses avian radar in the air traffic control tower to issue birdstrike warning though airports in Europe, Asia and Africa have installed and use the technology. DeTect's MERLIN system remains the only birdstrike radar being used operationally by air traffic control to issue real-time birdstrike risk advisories with systems operating at commercial airports and military airfields worldwide (read full news release).

August 30, 2016 - DeTect Announces Partnership with SGS Canada for Product Sales and Support - DeTect today announced that it has entered into a sales and support agreement with SGS Canada for its MERLIN, HARRIER and DroneWatcher products. SGS is a global services and technology leader with 42 offices in Canada. SGS has been supporting DeTect's MERLIN Bird Control Radar Systems in the Canadian Oil Sands for the past 5 years and the partnership will provide DeTect's customers with an expanded level of service and support.
