bulletDirector, Security Surveillance Systems: Senior management opportunity for full partnership in the company for experienced engineer or scientist with background in remote surveillance system development, engineering, design, programming, manufacture, delivery, operation and support. Desired expertise includes a broad working knowledge of radar, thermal, video and other sensors for security, border patrol and force protection. Position responsibilities will encompass overall business direction for the Security Surveillance Division and HARRIER product line to include business planning, execution, sales and marketing strategies to advance this segment of DeTect's business within the US and Internationally. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and will be a self-starter interested in working in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

bulletManager, Accounting & Finance: Ground floor opportunity for experienced accounting professional in the Panama City, Florida Corporate headquarters. The company is experiencing rapid growth which necessitates expansion of in house accounting and financial support. Position responsibilities include management and oversight for company financial and management accounting functions to include support for three US and one foreign offices. Minimum requirements are for a degreed accountant with five plus years experience in managerial and financial accounting with relevant experienced in manufacturing and US government contractor accounting preferred; CPA not required but desirable. bulletRadar Systems Engineers: Entry-level and experienced radar design and development engineers to research, design, develop, and test electronic and mechanical components and control systems for radar systems and other products for military and commercial aviation, environmental, homeland security and force protection clients. Tasks will include analysis of system and component requirements, capacity, cost, and project requirements to determine feasibility of project and develop system plan. Confer with company technical specialists, customers, vendors and others to identify, develop, prototype and deploy operational radar system and components. Ideal candidates will have practical knowledge and experience in real world application of radar engineering science and technology that includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of radar systems and ancillary components. Knowledge of and experience in design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models and knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming required. Position will have significant opportunity for advancement and upward career mobility to include management responsibility. Candidate must be able to work in a self-directed, entrepreneurial environment. Requires minimum B.S. degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, P.E. preferred.

bulletProgrammers: Position will assist in preparing specifications and user requirements and in encoding, testing, debugging, updating, and documenting proprietary software and programs for radar systems, data analysis and other company products and projects working under the direction of the company’s Chief Technology Officer. Expertise and knowledge of Visual Basic, C++, web applications and other programming languages desired. Requires three years minimum experience and B.S. degree in computer science.

bulletRadar Ornithologists: Entry and Senior level Radar Ornithologists positions supporting bird detection radar system set-up, operation, groundtruthing, measurement and analysis of the spatial distribution of birds and bats for aviation, wind farm, landfill and related projects. Duties and responsibilities will include field data collection, radar system operation and maintenance, processing and analysis using standard and custom software packages (including Arc 9, Matlab, MS Access and MS Excel). Conduct statistical analysis of bird distributions in time and space, compile draft technical reports for customers, provide processed data and graphical display output, and develop new data processing routines as needed for new projects. Requires minimum B.S. in avian biology, biology or related field and 3+ years of experience in avian survey. Radar operation experience and strong database skills a plus.

  • July 14, 2008 - Aviation Week Farnborough Air Show Edition discusses HARRIER ASR as UAV operations see-and-avoid technology: The Farnborough Air Show Edition of Aviation Week & Technology magazine in an article titled "How Unmanned Aircraft Will Sense and Avoid Other Aircraft" included the HARRIER Air Surveillance Radar (ASR) as an technology for see-and-avoid support for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations.   • July 7,2008 - DeTect Panama City to move to expanded facility: Effective August 1, 2008, DeTect Panama City will relocate to a new, larger facility at 1902 Wilson Ave. The new facility includes over 8,000 square feet of manufacturing space to support MERLIN and HARRIER system production, an electronics shop, training room and expanded office space.

  • June 12, 2008 - DeTect Opens Canadian Office: DeTect has opened an office in Canada to support projects throughout Canada. The office will be headed by Carolyn Matkovich who returns to DeTect after a leave of absence to complete her Masters degree in Radar Ornithology. The office is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.   • June 1, 2008 - DeTect Exhibits MERLIN Avian Radar System at WINDPOWER 2008: DeTect attended and exhibited at the WINDPOWER 2008 meeting in Houston, Texas, USA June 1-4. Over 13,500 attendees and 750 exhibitors were at the conference. DeTect also presented a methodology paper on use of advanced avian radar to quantitatively model bird mortality risk and co-presented with the Australian windfarm developer, Babcock and Brown, on the MERLIN survey at the Gulf Wind I windfarm in Texas which included an overview of the MERLIN SCADA risk mitigation technology.   • May 14, 2008 – New Zealand’s Largest Wind Energy Company Orders MERLIN Avian Radar System: Meridian Energy, the largest electricity generator in New Zealand, has ordered a MERLIN XS2530e Avian Radar System to support its wind farm projects in New Zealand.  The MERLIN system will be delivered to and operating in New Zealand by August for migratory bird surveys.

  • May 5 , 2008 - Updated AHAS website released: USAF contractors, DeTect and AET, have released an upgraded version of the U.S. Avian Hazard System (AHAS) website with new page layouts, functionality and user interfaces that includes an option for real-time Google Earth GIS-based imagery of current birdstrike risk for US military flight routes training ranges, MOAs and LATNAs. The AHAS system is located in DeTect's Panama City facility and DeTect provides on-going 24-7 system operation and support, that includes on-going development of and enhancements to the technology that support US military flight safety for the continental U.S. The AHAS website is available on line at www.usahas.com
